FAQ

  • Do I need prior experience in storyboarding to do this course?

No prior experience is required. This step-by-step mini course is designed for beginners and experienced professionals alike.

  • Does this course work for every training topic?

Yes. However, it does not do the work for you and it does not write the storyboarding content for you. You need to take responsibility for doing the steps in the course to extract the answers to the activities and then massage what you extract into your storyboard. This is the step-by-step process that our team uses for every training we create, which makes it applicable to all topics, sizes and problems we apply it to.

  • Will the course help me create a storyboard for a topic I don’t fully understand?

Yes! That is actually why we wrote this process/guide for ourselves initially, so that we could create training for any topic without ever being an expert on the subject/topic/etc. The process guides you in structuring content based on real-world actions and behaviours, allowing you to develop effective training without deep subject matter expertise. However, success in this course requires active participation—you will need to apply the process, think critically and experiment to refine your content.

  • Does the course cover technical content, software training or specific learning approaches like story-driven or gamified learning?

No, the course is not limited to any specific type of content or training approach. Instead, it teaches you the analysis and content extraction process for writing effective training content—no matter the subject. If you are interested in topics like story-driven learning or gamification, our YouTube channel (@BelvistaStudios) features expert discussions and insights on these areas.

  • How much time should I set aside to complete the course?

The time required depends on the length of your eLearning project. If you are creating a 25–30 minute eLearning course, expect to spend at least 7.5 hours on pre-storyboarding tasks before moving on to writing your storyboard, which typically takes around 40 hours. Your timeline may vary based on experience and project complexity. It is also recommended that the guide is read through in advance and then used as people start to diagnose and create a training solution.

  • As the course is self-paced, how can I clarify questions I may have along the way?

If you have questions along the way, chances are you will find the answers on our YouTube channel (@BelvistaStudios) — we have hundreds of videos covering everything we have learned over the years! If you are looking for more personalised guidance, you also have the option to book a coaching session with Kim. However, due to the affordable price of this step-by-step course, direct support from Kim as a peer or coach is not included. You can visit the 'Coaching' page on our creator hub to see the coaching options available.

  • Can I use the templates and exercises in my projects?

Yes. All templates and exercises are included for your personal and professional use. It is our step-by-step process that guides you all the way through from analysis to being able to storyboard the process. The examples used are real ones, which were created to train our team in the process. There are templates in the form of the exact questions and activities we use with clients, as well as our storyboard template in a ready to use Microsoft PowerPoint document.

  • Will this course help with creating storyboards for other types of media/outputs?

While the focus is on eLearning, many of the principles and techniques used can be applied to other content-based media/outputs, such as videos scripts, face-to-face training and learning resources.

  • Do you offer discounts for bulk course enrolments?

Yes! We offer discounts for groups purchasing 12 or more course enrolments. The discount varies based on the number of enrolments. Please email Kim ([email protected]) for a custom quote.
